After fighting a retreating battle for twelve days and ending up more than 300 km to the north, the unit claimed to have knocked-out 128 Soviet tanks, and was finally relocated to an area north of Augusowo. Four days later the Abteilung was transported back to Germany for rest and refit. On the 12th of September it was moved back to the Eastern Front with 38 new Tiger II Ausf. Bs ready for a new offensive towards the Narew Bridgehead.
